God’s Promises Are Forever (PLUS A FREE TURTLE)!

September 1, 2017

What are God’s promises that you know about? Which of God’s promises do you believe in? And, which of God’s promises do you think are impossible to happen in your life?

Albert and I love listening to audio recordings of the Bible on YouTube. I like the ones that help me imagine how the author was feeling at that moment because it’s easier to understand. Every now and then, we come across God’s promises to Israel, or to his disciples and to the believers. These promises gave them hope especially during times when they were oppressed or discouraged. It also gave them an idea of the future that God has prepared for them, and it helped keep them going on.

In the same way, God’s promises also gives us hope in this life. We may be worried at times, but we keep going on because we know that God has promised to “prosper us” and give us a “good future”. He said that He will “never leave us” and we keep that in mind when we think that we might lack or fail. Most importantly, God promised “eternal life” for all of us who believe in Him.

I think that every Christian has at least one life verse to live by. We have a one-liner to pull us through the hard times. However, there are times that we find it difficult to trust in God and His promises, and we end up doing things on our own. We rely more on other people, those who we think can help us. Sometimes, we rely on those who have more power or wealth. In our hearts, we know that God has something else in store for us, but we just can’t look away from other people’s promises.

If you are in a place where you have put your trust in people or yourself, more than God, do not condemn yourself. Be reminded that God is God, He is more powerful than anything and His love for you is greater than anyone else’s love. The Bible compared God to man, and were not surprised by what it said:

“All flesh is grass, And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, Because the breath of the LORD blows upon it; Surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40:6-8‬ ‭NKJV‬

Guess what, we are mere grass compared to God! All our strength, even at our best, or even from the best among us, withers at a single breath. The beauty that we see now may be gone in any minute, even though we have put our best efforts to maintain it. If you think about it that way, you know that it’s best to trust in what God can do, than trust in any man! This doesn’t mean that we should isolate ourselves and trust no one. I think that we should still trust each other, but give allowance for failure. It also means that we must believe what God says in His Word, more than we believe what people say.

God’s promises stand forever.

Though parents, friends or family may have failed, God will never fail. He is more than strong enough, more than good enough, more than faithful enough. He will make sure that His Word gets fulfilled. And what’s more wonderful is that He has given so many good promises to us, even though we are only grass or flowers compared to Him! Talk about undeserved and unconditional love!

God’s promises are forever, and God’s promises are for you. Keep trusting Him even when life doesn’t seem to work out. You’ll find out that everything turns out well in the end, and you’ll be glad that you have put your faith in Him.
