God Keeps His Promises Even When We Fail

September 17, 2017

We’ve read a lot of verses that say how good God is, and we’ve known some of God’s promises from the Bible. There’s even a list of God’s promises available on the internet. But are we sure that God keeps his promises? How long will it be before I see God’s promises come to pass? Do I need to do anything for God to keep his promise? The answer to these questions will surely help us trust God as we wait for God to fulfill his promise to us.

I’ve asked the same questions myself, especially during the most confusing and difficult times of my life. Sometimes, a reassuring verse from the Bible was all I needed to get by until everything gets settled and eventually my problems get solved. One such verse is from the story of Jacob in Genesis.

“Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran. So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep.

Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. And behold, the LORD stood above it and said: “I am the LORD God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.” Genesis 28:10-15 NKJV

So Jacob is one of the sons of Isaac, and Isaac is the promised son of Abraham. God has chosen Abraham to follow Him, and he has declared to bless Abraham and all his descendants. At this point of the story, Jacob was in such big trouble that he had to escape and leave his home.

GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES

Okay, you may be thinking, “But God never appeared in my dreams, how is this relevant to me?” Well, we’re on the same boat, my friend. Most of my dreams are about the movie that I saw a few hours before! (With me in the scene, of course.) But that doesn’t mean God’s promises are not for us. God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

If you put your trust in Jesus, then all of God’s good promises in the Bible are for you. And God will surely keep his promises, because he is faithful. We can trust God for every area in our lives, and we can rest our mind from worrying, like what I discussed in a previous post.

EVEN WHEN YOU FAIL

Sometimes, we’re like Jacob and we get ourselves in trouble unnecessarily. We fail so much that we start doubting that if God keeps his promises to us even in our bad days. We feel that we don’t deserve his blessings because we’ve made very bad decisions in our lives. When we think that God’s not going to pull through, we make more bad decisions and get into deeper trouble!

Dear friend, God loves us so much and he wants to bless us always. When you’re at that point where you doubt that God will keep his promise to you, always remember how faithful he is. I have posted this on my wall at home to always remind me.

God will stay with you until the end, until his promises to you gets fulfilled. In fact, he will stay with you forever! He loves you like that! And what’s more, God’s word always stands though we most of the times fail and even forget him. We’re human like that, but God is greater. He can and he will always keep his promises to us. You can read more about this is my previous post, God’s Promises Are Forever.

What are God’s promises that you hold dear to your heart? Which one are you waiting for him to fulfill? I hope that I was able to encourage you to keep trusting Him to do these. God keeps His promises, over and over again, until the end. He will never leave you alone and he makes sure that you are always blessed. Just keep trusting and patiently waiting on him, and try not to get yourself into more trouble. I know it’s very easy to do that, based on my experience, but I hope that this post reminds you that God is helping you though you may not see it yet.
